Why trauma responses surprise Christians

…it is trauma we were never meant to feel.

“…but you must not eat from the tree of the knowledge of good and evil, for when you eat from it you will certainly die” —Genesis 2:17

When will we see that it is all tied up in a certain fruit forbidden?

So much emphasis is placed on The Original Sin – capital letters & all.

We are so focused on and, even, obsessed with the sin, or disobedience, aspect of the eating of this fruit – that we can miss the entirety of what it brought and how that was never intended.

Yes, indeed, Jesus came to restore us to an ability to be with the Father after this separation…after this sin. And, our gratitude drops us to our knees..as it should….that restoration….that sacrifice….that choice.

He came to bring even more to us…

He came to restore us from exactly what that disobedience brought.

It brought sin and one more thing. It brought this knowledge of good and evil, which was something that would bring all of human suffering …& all trauma responses we can name.

In giving this command above, The Father didn’t just want us to obey. He wanted us safe.

You may have noticed, it is common to hear people ask why God would allow all of the trouble in the world. While I do not know why the trouble is there, I can – most certainly – defend my Father in saying He never intended us to feel it…know it…or experience it…nor its consequences.

It was always going to be that bad.

It was always going to be that hard.

It was always going to be that destructive.

It was always going to be that devastating.

It was always going to have that impact and that impact was always going to be that painful. He knew, and He never intended it for us.

Instead of the disbelief of how cruel it is the Father allows all of this pain, if we would only see that it was – rather – His Love, which attempted to prevent it from coming to us, at all.

We do need a way home to the Father through the Son. We do need His miraculous Grace restoring our standing in Him. And, if we truly know the Father & His Kind Grace, we know He wants full restoration.

His Son came to restore us TO God and TO wholeness ~ to that promised peace. —John 14:27

Some have seen Jesus’ sacrifice as a positional restoration only…but, we must go deeper.

Our position is restored…our capacity for eternal life is available again – as it was in the garden from the Tree of Life (though, unchosen). Yet, He came to bring restoration from what BOTH trees offered – the life & the grief.

He came to heal our brokenness from trauma that we are still able to feel, even though He came & rose again long ago.

He came BRING the impact of the Tree of Life & He came to RESTORE from the impact of the Tree of the Knowledge of Good & Evil, all at once. If we are living and breathing on this earth, we are not yet in the place of Eternal Life and we are not yet free from the impact of the Knowledge of Good & Evil.

Sisters..we must go further. And, we must let Him go further – here & now – to restore us to the wholeness of His Peace from the many ways we are in brokenness from this knowledge.

In our ministry, we teach the Biblical way home from the impact of traumas ~ & their responses, which we were never meant to feel. There is more wholeness for you. There is more in Him for you now …just as you always suspected.
